Our Say Counts

The Participation group – Our Say Counts - meet regularly throughout the year. They have been involved in some incredibly exciting ventures:

Sadler’s Wells – November 2008

Michael, Roshanne, Stephanie, Joanna and Angela attended a day organised by the Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC) to look at the skills and values children and young people would like to see in the adults working with them. There were several workshops to choose from including Rap, Puppet and Art groups. At the end of the day, the young people presented their work to 150 people. Stephanie was the star of the show with her puppets!

London Zoo – March 2009

Our Say Counts were invited to London Zoo by the CWDC to help create some information explaining the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) and Lead Professional to children and young people. The ideas they came up with were fun, original and clever and are now used in the CAF and Lead Professional information leaflets. The finished products can be seen on display on the Our Say Counts notice board in the training barn and will shortly be on the website.

Thanks to Michael, Katie, Roshanne, Stephanie, Joanna, Angela, Zoe and Stephen for being such wonderful ambassadors for Families for children – we are all very proud of you.

Drama day – Weald and Download Museum August 2009

Some of the group attended a drama workshop and theatre production at the wonderful Weald and Downland Museum in Singleton. This was an amazing day out and Michael and Jeraldine were selected to perform in the play in the afternoon. After a morning of rehearsals they gave an excellent performance and remembered all of their lines – well done!

Summer day out 2009

The group had a great day out at Brook Farm. Mud, screaming, laughter, (more mud) and toasted strawberries were the order of the day. The afternoon was taken up with team building games and the challenge of the climbing wall. Once again the group members did themselves proud. The feedback from the instructors was very positive saying how polite and attentive everyone was.
